Nexium is used to reduce stomach pain and acid reflux. It contains esomeprazole magnesium, which is a proton pump inhibitor. The drug works by decreasing the amount of stomach acid the body makes. It does not work if the stomach is experiencing an acid reflux. It is available in the form of tablets, capsules, and liquid suspension. The dosage for esomeprazole is 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg.
